Gustavo Nielsen was born in Buenos Aires in 1962, and works as a writer and architect. He has been awarded numerous prizes, most recently the prestigious Premio Clarín for his latest novel, La otra playa. Nielsen captivates the reader with his direct, ironic style and clearly defined characters.

La otra playa (“The Other Beach”) is a surprising love story with mystery elements. Antonio and Marta are going through a marriage crisis. Then weird things start happening: Photos show a different motive than that which was taken, impossible coincidences occurr. When Antonio sees a young woman on the street, he is immediately infatuated with her. Then their lives intersect - but the strange truth is a far cry from his hopes for a sexual encounter.

Bold, daring, and full of intrigues and surprises. This novel will hypnotize you.

In El corazón de Doli (“Doli’s Heart”), Nielsen combines a provocative and socially critical topic with a haunting love story. Víctor and Sergio are twins, but while Sergio is pampered by his family, Víctor is only his servant and organ donor – he is a clone. But one day, Víctor falls in love with Doli and starts questioning his role in life. Then Víctor finds out the hard way that his girlfriend is a clone like him. After Doli’s death, Víctor’s world falls apart.

Nielsen gives us novel and entertaining literature, with just the right emotional touch that makes it hard to stop reading. A story that showcases intelligent humour.
