Terra Papagalli (“Land of the Parrots”) transports the reader on an ironic-satirical journey into the world of the sixteenth century when Pedro Álvares Cabral lands on the coast of Brazil. Cosme Fernandes, an exiled Jew left behind in the “New World” for approaching a modest young lady of high social standing, tells us about his encounter with the Indios, the faith and superstition of the Portuguese, providing us with moral instructions on how to survive in the land of the Parrots.

O evangelho de Barrabás ("The Gospel of Barrabás") is an entertaining parody of the New Testament, telling us with surprising twists and turns what the life of Barrabás may have been like. Combing the Bible for quotes, the two authors found he declared his love for Maria Magdalena – and that humanity will tolerate almost anything as long as people have someone to idealise.

A funny and well written parody.

O Evangelho de Barrabás has something of Monty Python's The Life of Brian.
